LLOYD SAUNDERS MEMORIAL COOK-OFF SET FOR SATURDAY

  

The Washington County Expo will play host tomorrow (Saturday) to the annual Lloyd Saunders Memorial Cook-off.

Teams will compete in various contests for chili, beans, margaritas, bloody marys and chef’s choice.  There will also be a cornhole tournament, live and silent auctions, a 50/50 drawing and a card draw for a gun and designer bag.

Barbara Saunders, the widow of Lloyd, says the event has grown considerably over the years and, through the public’s support, provides scholarships for past participants in the Washington County Fair calf scramble.

 

Judging starts with the bloody mary division at 11 a.m.  Chef’s choice will follow at 12:30 p.m., then margaritas at 1:30 p.m., beans at 2:30 p.m. and chili at 3:45 p.m.  Cash prizes and plaques will go to the first through third place winners.

Registration for the cornhole tournament opens at 11 a.m., and play will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Entry into the cook-off is $20 per category.  Applications will be accepted until noon tomorrow.
