WASHINGTON CO. ENACTS BURN BAN EFFECTIVE FRIDAY
Washington County is entering into a burn ban.
Today (Thursday), county commissioners adopted an order banning outdoor burning in unincorporated areas of the county. The county says the order becomes effective at 7 a.m. tomorrow (Friday).
The restrictions remain in effect for 90 days unless terminated earlier based on a determination by the court or the Texas Forest Service.
Violation of the order is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500.
Washington County joins Waller County as the latest in the region to put a burn ban in place, after Waller County approved a ban on Wednesday.
The only county now in the area without a burn ban in effect is Grimes County. However, Grimes County Commissioners are scheduled to meet tomorrow to potentially take action on a burn ban.
