BELLVILLE ISD BOND PASSES

Voters in Bellville ISD have passed a $52.5 million school bond to go toward the construction of a new campus.

Proposition A, which was approved by a tally of 1,735-1,282, will fund the building of a new junior high school and accommodate the moving of grades 3-5 from O’Bryant Primary and O’Bryant Intermediate to the current junior high campus, which will become an intermediate school.  O’Bryant Primary will become an early childhood through second grade campus, while the oldest part of O’Bryant Intermediate will be demolished.

The bond will also support campus facility improvements for safety, parking and traffic, HVAC, capacity, and age and condition.

Proposition B, which ratifies a property tax rate of $0.9712 per $100 valuation, was also approved by a margin of 1,636-1,357.  The new rate, which is still below last year’s rate of $1.1352 per $100, will allow Bellville ISD to provide teachers raises and increase their starting pay.

The school bond passed on its third attempt, as previous tries failed in May 2023 and November 2021.
