The Bellville Lions Club has named its 2023 Citizen of the Year.
Dawn Compton received the honors during the club’s Christmas Party on Thursday, December 21st.
Compton is the founder of The Blessing Box Project, which sends special pillows and care packages for free to women who have had mastectomies.
Compton said during the event that nearly 15,000 boxes have been shipped so far, and there have been over 16,000 requests. She is assisted by at least 100 women across the United States, including many in Bellville, Sealy and Austin County.
