SPRING MAN KILLED IN GRIMES CO. CRASH

  

A Spring man is dead after a one-vehicle accident Monday afternoon in Grimes County.

DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz reports that shortly before 3:30 p.m., a 2021 Nissan Maxima was driving northbound on Highway 249 near County Road 304, south of Stoneham.  The vehicle was traveling at a speed considered unsafe for the weather and roadway conditions.

According to Sgt. Ruiz, the vehicle hydroplaned, hit a concrete culvert, overturned and became submerged in water.

The driver, 26-year-old Stephen Oderinde, was transported to St. Joseph Health Grimes Hospital in Navasota, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

The investigation into the crash continues.
