FUTURE RENOVATIONS FOR FIREMAN’S PARK STADIUM BEING DISCUSSED
Discussions have begun on potential improvements to historic Fireman’s Park Stadium, the long-time home of the Brenham Cub Baseball Team.
At the Brenham Baseball Alumni Association Banquet this past Saturday, a Vision Plan was unveiled giving players, coaches, and fans a look at some of the ideas being discussed.
The projects in the Vision Plan would be a partnership between the City of Brenham, the Brenham Baseball Alumni Association, private donors, and possibly Brenham ISD.
Plan North Architecture donated their time and expertise to come up with the renderings in the Vision Plan.
City of Brenham Public Works Director Dane Rau told KWHI that no funding has been dedicated to anything yet, but they are hoping a campaign for future infrastructure improvements will be organized in the next year or so.
He added that planning is still in the very early stages.
Among the items being discussed are renovating the concession stand and the public restrooms, adding two storage rooms, and an umpires’ changing room.
They are also looking at a new clubhouse that would include a locker room with 30 lockers for the players, offices for the coaches, a laundry room, and separate restrooms for the locker room and the office area.
Other plans call for replacing the current lights at the stadium with LED lights, and replacing the grass on the field with turf. They would also move the home team to the first base dugout, and the visitors to the third base dugout.
If they get approval and funding for the renovations, the early estimated timeline for completion of everything would be anywhere from 3 to 5 years down the road.
