Former Burton ISD Superintendent Dr. Edna
Kennedy speaks during a Leaders in Education
Forum at Blinn College in Brenham on August 4,
2021.

Dr. Kennedy was selected after the Dime Box School Board met on May 8th to name a lone finalist for the position.

In the district’s announcement, it stated that Dr. Kennedy emerged as the top candidate following a thorough search process.  School Board President Charles Fritsche said the district looks forward to welcoming Dr. Kennedy, adding that she “shares our commitment to providing a high-quality education for every student in Dime Box ISD.”

The Dime Box School Board must wait 21 days before making the hire official.

Dr. Kennedy served as the superintendent of Burton ISD from 2015 until March 19th, when the board approved a voluntary retirement agreement with her.  Rob Barnwell is serving as the district’s interim superintendent while trustees continue to search for a full-time superintendent.

KWHI has reached out to Dr. Kennedy for comment.

  1. Kinda interesting to me when you voluntary retirement and can’t finish the year out and having a new contract for more years. So now you going to a different school for a job Within a few months. Somebody not telling the truth or they don’t want us to hear about it ?

    1. You’re probably right on both accounts: not telling the truth and don’t want us to know about it.
