BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO VOTE ON CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGER-AGENT

  

The Burton School Board will hold a special meeting Monday to proceed with formally approving a contract with a new construction manager-agent for the school bond project.

Trustees voted at their previous meeting on June 11th to pass a resolution to hire Weaver & Jacobs Constructors.  The firm, based out of Cuero, was selected to replace DSA, Inc., who the board terminated the district’s contract with on June 3rd.

Interim Superintendent Rob Barnwell said the company stood out based on its past experience in school construction, strong references and a desire to start as soon as possible.

Prior to action on the contract, the board will hold a public hearing on the district’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) funds.

An executive session is scheduled for trustees to discuss personnel, security and real property, as well as to consult with an attorney.  Any action will occur in open session.

The board will meet Monday at 5 p.m. in the Burton ISD cafeteria.
