THOUSANDS OF POWER OUTAGES REPORTED AFTER HURRICANE BERYL MAKES LANDFALL

  

Utility workers continue to restore power to residents affected by the numerous outages caused by Tropical Storm Beryl after making landfall this (Monday) morning as a hurricane.

As of 4 p.m., Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s online outage map showed a total of approximately 3,900 outages.  Much of them are concentrated in Washington County, including over 400 northeast of Brenham, around 360 southwest of Brenham, over 300 in Washington and the northeast portion of the county, over 200 east of Brenham, around 180 in and surrounding Chappell Hill, 140 southeast of Brenham and over 70 northwest of Brenham

There are also hundreds of outages in Austin County, including roughly 380 located in the New Ulm area and around 45 in the Kenney area.  The other remaining outages, totaling about 1,400, are on the west end of Bluebonnet’s service area, near Bastrop and Lockhart.

San Bernard Electric Cooperative’s online outage detector listed 11,400 outages as of 4 p.m.  Around 6,000 of those outages are in the far northeast portion of the cooperative’s service area, between Prairie View and Magnolia.  Widespread outages are also reported around Bellville, tallying over 2,000, with hundreds of other outages scattered around Cat Spring, Hempstead, Sealy and Columbus.

The City of Brenham’s online outage map showed that as of 11:45 a.m., there were roughly 880 outages.  Many of those appeared to be concentrated on the east and northeast side of town, with another large portion located on the south side of town.
