PANTHERS OPEN DISTRICT WITH 35-0 WIN OVER MCDADE
The Burton Panther Football Team opened up district play with a 35-0 win over the McDade Bulldogs last (Friday) night at Snook High School. This was the first ever meeting between the two schools in football. McDade moved up from six-man football to 2A Division II starting this season.
Maleek Bibby got the Panthers on the board with a 4-yard touchdown run. Burton went for two, but were unsuccessful. However, the Panthers grabbed the early 6-0 lead.
K.D. Patterson scored Burton's next touchdown on a 42-yard run. The Panthers failed again on the two-point conversion, but still led 12-0.
A little later in the first quarter, Patterson would find Eli Simank on a 30-yard touchdown pass. D'Mitry Schulte kicked the extra point to give Burton a 19-0 advantage.
Marcos Casas got a safety for the Panthers on defense to make it 21-0.
Then, Simank capped off the scoring for the first quarter with a 61-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and Schulte kicked another extra point to increase the lead to 28-0 for Burton.
In the second quarter, Bibby capped off the scoring with a 12-yard run and Schulte added the extra point to put Burton ahead 35-0, which would end up being the final.
Next up for Burton (2-2, 1-0), they will be heading back to Snook to take on the Blue Jays in a District Game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 6:30pm on 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.
