SIX WEEKEND CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

  

The Brenham Fire Department was called out six times over the weekend.

Just past noon on Saturday, firefighters responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 900 block of South Market Street.  They arrived at the scene to find moderate damage to both vehicles and helped with traffic control and debris removal from the roadway.  Once both vehicles were removed, the department cleared the scene.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m., another two-vehicle crash was reported In the 400 block of Highway 290 East.  Both vehicles sustained moderate damage, and units proceeded to provide traffic control until both vehicles were removed.

On Sunday, around 12:30 a.m., BFD members were dispatched to a structure fire in the 1000 block of Washington Street.  They made location and found smoke coming from an apartment downstairs.  One of the residents used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire and removed the burning items.  The fire department used fans to get rid of the smoke from the apartment and removed the items that had burned in the bathroom.  Once all the smoke had cleared, units returned to service.

Around 2:45 a.m., firefighters went out to a crash in the 1100 block of Apache Drive and found a one-vehicle crash with fluids on the roadway.  They applied absorbent to mitigate the fluids and removed debris from the roadway before returning to the station.

Shortly after 4 a.m., the department responded to the Washington County 911 Communications office, 301 North Baylor Street, for a possible structure fire.  Upon arrival, units learned the AC unit had gone out in the server room, causing smoke to come out of the vents.  The power to the AC unit was turned off, and maintenance was contacted.

A few minutes after 6:15 p.m., BFD personnel received a report of a grass fire at a home in the 400 block of Charles Lewis Street.  They made location to find a fire on top of a tree in the yard.  Firefighters used tank water and a hose line to put out the fire.
