Today (Friday) through Sunday, the festival will offer art exhibitions and displays, shopping at vendors, and live entertainment.

Festival board member Austin Taylor, speaking during KWHI’s Community Corner program last week, says the event provides a lively experience in the name of supporting local student art and music programs.

This year’s festival will bring two new murals to downtown Brenham, one on the side of The Laundry Event Hall and another on the side of Ballad of the Bird Dog, next to the Blind Willie Johnson mural.  The featured muralists are Floyd Mendoza of Pasadena and Toni Ardizzone of Austin.

New to the festival is a juried art show, opening today (Friday) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and continuing tomorrow (Saturday) from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Vendors and food trucks in the art village will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.  A children’s business fair will take place tomorrow from 10 a.m. to noon.

The music lineup tomorrow will start out with the Brenham Children’s Chorus at 1 p.m., followed by Kane Alvarado from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Willow Creek Junction from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Susto from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Jomo & The Possum Posse from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

All activities are free and open to the public.  To learn more, visit www.texasartsandmusicfestival.com or the Texas Arts and Music Festival Facebook page.

KTEX-106’s Courtney Cartwright will be at the festival tomorrow afternoon, broadcasting live from the KTEX Country Cruiser.
