GRIMES COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING FATAL STABBING
The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what started as an Aggravated Assault case that occurred early Friday morning, and was later upgraded to Murder when the victim died.
Shortly after midnight, Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the report of a stabbing located on the 5000 Block of Hickory Hill Road in Navasota.
According to Sheriff Don Sowell, a male victim, later identified as Adrian Ramirez, was transported to the emergency room in Navasota for treatment of his injuries. He was later life-flighted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan for further treatment.
The suspect, Julia Chaidez, was arrested at the scene, and taken to the Grimes County Jail, where she was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a first-degree felony. Bond was set at $250,000.
Ramirez later succumbed to his injuries. As result, the charge against Chaidez has been increased from Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon to Murder. Her bond was also increased to $500,000.
Sheriff Sowell said this was a situation of a domestic disturbance that escalated.
The case is under a further investigation by the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Rangers.
