CITY OF NAVASOTA ISSUES WARNING ABOUT FRAUDULENT EMAIL SCAM
The City of Navasota is warning the public of an email scam using a fake city email address.
City officials say they have been made aware of multiple reports from outside organizations regarding a fraudulent email that appears to come from a former employee of the city. The email attempts to share a file via a Dropbox link and may display an email address ending in @navasotatx.gov.
The City confirms this is a scam and tells any recipients to delete or discard the email immediately while avoiding clicking on any links or attachments, as doing so could result in cybersecurity risks.
The City says it is taking steps to investigate and mitigate any potential impacts to ensure the security and integrity of its communications. Anyone who receives an email as previously described or otherwise has concerns about its authenticity is encouraged to contact the City at 936-825-6475.
