FOUR CALLS WEDNESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department was dispatched to four calls on Wednesday.
Shortly after 2:15 p.m., Brenham units responded along with the Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department for a grass fire in the 4800 block of FM 50. The Brenham department arrived to find a slow-moving grass fire about 2-3 acres in size. Prairie Hill units arrived and took command of the scene, helping control the left flank of the fire and extinguishing hard spots while Brenham units worked on the right flank and stopped the fire’s forward progress. Once the fire was out, the Brenham department was released from the scene, while the Prairie Hill department stayed on location.
Around 6:15 p.m., firefighters received a report of an alarm sounding at a home in the 1200 block of Burleson Street. Upon arrival, they found a bad detector, so they replaced the detector before returning to service.
At 6:45 p.m., BFD members were called out for a transportation incident in the 900 block of East Main Street. There, they discovered a two-vehicle accident with one person complaining of injuries. The fire department stayed with the patient until EMS arrived, returning to service once both vehicles were removed from the roadway.
Just past 8:30 p.m., the department went out to the 1900 block of FM 2935 for a report of a hissing noise coming from propane tanks. Units found that the noise was caused by an 18-wheeler tractor trailer filling the trailer up. Nothing was wrong at the location, so personnel cleared the call.
