VICTIM AND SUSPECT IDENTIFIED IN LEE COUNTY SHOOTING
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of both the victim and the suspect in this past Thursday’s shooting incident.
The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Jeffrey Alan McConnell of Giddings, while the suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Andrew Galaxy Hu of Giddings.
The shooting was reported around 12:15pm on Thursday in the 2100 Block of County Road 217 in South Lee County.
The victim, McConnell, was taken by private vehicle to the Lee County Law Enforcement Center, where he was treated by EMS for a gunshot wound, and then flown by helicopter to the hospital.
Hu was originally arrested on Thursday for Public Intoxication, and released on Friday after posting bond.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Investigators continued to work the case, and gathered further information.
Yesterday (Sunday), they obtained an arrest warrant for Hu from Lee County Precinct Two Justice of the Peace Michael York. The charge was for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Family or Household Member.
Hu was taken into custody earlier this (Monday) morning and booked into the Lee County Jail.
The Sheriff’s Office also said that McConnell remains in the hospital, where he continues to recover from his injuries.
