SNOOK ISD LOOKING INTO CALLING A BOND ELECTION IN NOVEMBER 2025

With their student enrollment increasing at a higher-than-expected rate, Snook ISD is looking into the possibility of a bond election in November 2025 to help fund their need for additional facilities.

Snook ISD Superintendent Dr. Megan Pape told the school board that enrollment as of December 18 was at 614 students, but was later notified that it was actually higher at 620 students. Pape said that they are out of classroom space and at capacity with their current facilities.

According to the Burleson County Tribune, the consulting firm of Zonda Education out of Southlake, Texas, was hired to conduct a demographic study to project student growth over time.

At their November meeting, a representative of Zonda told board members that a conservative estimate projects the district at 701 students in three years, and up to 1,038 students in the next ten years.

The School Board then met last week with Live Oak Public Finance LLC of Austin to discuss board options on the interest and sinking tax rate.

They looked at potential tax rate increases, and how much the increases would provide the district to cover the costs of new facilities at the current interest rate of 4.5%.

Next up, for the Snook School Board’s January meeting, Dr. Pape said they are considering having a few architects attend to discuss professional services, and facility planning.

They will also be looking at establishing a Capital Improvement Committee made up of community members, parents, and staff to work through the potential facilities planning stages to consider a bond election.
