LADY PANTHERS REMAIN UNBEATEN IN DISTRICT WITH WIN OVER MUMFORD

The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team remained unbeaten in District 26-2A after a 7-3 win over Mumford last (Tuesday) night.

Burton got on the board in the top of the first inning when Natalie Hodde reached on a one-out single, and then came around to score on an RBI triple by Lexi Broesche.

The Lady Panthers would then score two more runs in the top of the second inning. Laci Broesche reached on a bunt, and then stole second. Aerynn Huntsman struck out, but reached on a wild pitch on strike three. Abby Dowling followed with a walk to load the bases. Reagan Roemer came up next, and slugged a two-run double that scored Broesche and Huntsman to increase the Burton lead to 3-0.

The Lady Panthers doubled their lead with three more runs in the top of fourth inning. Roemer reached on a fielder's choice, Hodde singled, and Amaya Williams walked to load the bases. Lexi Broesche followed with an RBI triple that cleared off the bases to make it 6-0 Burton.

Mumford got their first two runs off of Bailey Glaesmann in the bottom of the fourth inning, which made it a 6-2 Lady Panther lead.

Burton tacked on one more run in the top of the sixth inning. Dowling walked and then scored when Lexi Broesche reached on a fielder's choice to give the Lady Panthers a 7-2 advantage.

Mumford scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to finish out the scoring at 7-3.

Bailey Glaesmann got the win in the circle by going all seven innings.

Next up, the Lady Panthers will host Somerville on Friday night at 6pm.
