MULTIPLE WEEKEND CRASH CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department responded to seven calls over the weekend.
Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, firefighters received a call of a crash with entrapment at Brenham City Hall, 200 West Vulcan Street. They found a single-vehicle accident with a car that had hit a wall, with no entrapment upon FD arrival. The department checked for leaking fluids, but no mitigation was needed, and firefighters remained on scene until the car was towed by a wrecker.
At 1:30 p.m., units responded to a home in the 300 block of Scenic Brook Street for an agency assist with an EMS call. After assisting EMS, they cleared the call and returned to service.
A few minutes after 4:45 p.m., BFD members went out to a home in the 200 block of High Street for a gas odor. They found a leak at the meter to the house and remained on scene until the City of Brenham Gas Department made location.
At 10:15 p.m., the department was called out to a fire alarm at a home in the 500 block of Green Street. Upon arrival, units searched the residence and found nothing that would have activated the alarm, so they cleared the call.
At 8:45 a.m. Sunday, firefighters were dispatched to Highway 36 North and Tommelson Creek Road for a report of a transportation incident with entrapment. They discovered a two-vehicle accident with heavy damage to both vehicles. Two patients were extricated using cutters and spreaders to remove the driver and rear driver-side doors from a vehicle. Firefighters helped EMS and returned to service after the roadway was cleaned up. No word was given on the extent of any injuries from the accident.
Around 2:30 p.m., BFD personnel were sent to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for a fire alarm. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, and after walking through the area, firefighters found no signs of smoke or fire.
Just shy of 6:45 p.m., units responded to the Brenham Municipal Airport, 3001 Aviation Way, for what was called in as a plane crash. They reported finding an airplane sideways in the middle of the runway, but there were no fluids leaking, and the pilot of the aircraft was unharmed. After the plane was removed from the runway, the department returned to service.
