WASHINGTON COUNTY CLAIMS MINOR SOFTBALL TITLE IN THRILLING DOUBLEHEADER
On Monday, the Washington County Little League All-Stars faced Columbus in the championship round of the Minor Softball Tournament, needing just one win to secure the title. It took two games but Washington County ultimately rose to the occasion, capturing the championship in a dramatic winner-take-all finale.
GAME 1: COLUMBUS FORCES DECISIVE GAME TWO
Columbus came out strong in the first game, jumping to a quick 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and never looking back. They added three more runs throughout the game to secure a 7-4 victory and force a second, winner-take-all matchup.
Washington County didn’t go down without a fight, staging a comeback with key RBIs from Finlee Youngs, Teagyn Wilson, and Stella Church. Despite their efforts, the deficit proved too much but the All-Stars carried that late-game energy into Game 2.

GAME 2: DOMINANT RESPONSE FROM WASHINGTON COUNTY
In the decisive second game, Washington County came out firing, building a commanding 9-0 lead by the end of the third inning. Kinsley Haferkamp delivered a stellar performance in the pitching circle, while the offense exploded highlighted by Paisley Meyer’s three-RBI effort, driving in Teagyn Wilson three times.
Columbus continued to battle, putting up five runs over the final three innings, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early onslaught. Washington County tacked on an insurance run in the fifth and held strong down the stretch.
Haferkamp fittingly closed out the game with a strikeout, sealing the win and securing the Minor Softball Tournament Championship for Washington County.
