FOURTH OF JULY GAS PRICES DOWN FROM LAST WEEK

  

Gas prices in Texas are down from last week, heading into the Independence Day holiday.

According to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $2.72.  That price is down 10 cents from a week ago, up a penny from a month ago, and down 38 cents from this time last year.

In Brenham, the average price at reporting gas stations comes out to $2.70, with a low of $2.54 and a high of $3.00. 

Examining the state’s metropolitan areas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average for gas at $2.85 a gallon, while drivers in the McAllen-Edinburg-Mission area are spending the least at $2.50.

The nationwide average price of fuel is $3.16 per gallon, which is down 6 cents from last week, up 3 cents from last month, and down 35 cents from this point last year.
