BURTON EXTENDS STAGE 5 DROUGHT PLAN TO JULY 16
The City of Burton has extended Stage 5 water restrictions into next week.

According to a city notice shared this (Thursday) morning, local officials were informed by the city’s drilling company that the timeline to drill the new water well has shifted, meaning residents and businesses will need to continue conserving water.
The Stage 5 Drought Contingency Plan, which was enacted on Monday, will remain in place until Wednesday, July 16th. Burton Mayor Karen Buck says the planned 24-hour outage on the city’s existing well has been moved; after being scheduled for today (Thursday) at noon, it will now begin tomorrow (Friday).
The following items are prohibited under Stage 5 restrictions:
- Irrigation of landscaped areas, as well as the watering of lawns and flower beds with a garden hose;
- The use of water to wash motor vehicles or boats;
- Filling, refilling or adding water to swimming pools, wading pools and Jacuzzi-type pools;
- The operation of any ornamental fountain or pond for aesthetic or scenic purposes;
- Washing down sidewalks, walkways, driveways or parking lots;
- Power washing buildings;
- Flushing gutters.
The city says it will update the public if any further changes or modifications are needed.
