FAYETTE COUNTY SHOOTING VICTIM IDENTIFIED

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of the early Sunday morning shooting in the community of Nechanitz.

19-year-old Andrew Dewayne Webb Jr. of Houston was shot at the Real Deal Family Reunion event.

Due to the large size of the crowd, Sheriff Keith Korenek had to drive Webb to an ambulance for medical treatment.

Webb was then flown by EMS helicopter to Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin, where he later passed away from his injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office said they have identified a person of interest, but have not released the name. The Texas Rangers and the U.S. Marshals are assisting with the investigation.

The shooting was part of a chaotic event that included a party bus collapsing and injuring seven people.

After authorities attempted to close the gate at 10pm, the crowd bum-rushed the gate injuring an event-worker in the process.

The Sheriff’s Office also made multiple arrests for weapons charges, an assault, and investigated several motor vehicle burglaries.

After issues last year as well, Fayette County instituted a mass gathering permit policy to ensure future events operate in a safe manner.

Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller placed a statement in the Fayette County Record saying that after the events of the last two years, the Real Deal Family Reunion is no longer welcome in the county.

Sheriff Korenek and EMS director Josh Vandever agreed with Mueller’s assessment and also said that they would not support the group getting another mass gathering permit in Fayette County.
