BLINN FOOTBALL DROPS SEASON FINALE TO CISCO
Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
The Blinn College football team found itself in an early hole it couldn’t fully dig out of, resulting in a 37-24 season-ending loss to Cisco College on Saturday in Cisco, Texas.
With the Southwest Junior College Football Conference loss, the Buccaneers concluded their season with a 4-5 overall record and a 2-5 mark in conference play.
Cisco jumped on Blinn early with 21 first-quarter points.
The Buccaneer defense bounced back in the second quarter to limit the Wranglers to just a field goal as Blinn cut into its deficit with a pair of touchdowns.
Freshman quarterback Jack Emerson got the Bucs on the board with a 30-yard TD toss to sophomore wide receiver Tracy James Jr., and added a 42-yard scoring pass to freshman wideout Jayphon Duncan just before halftime.
The Wranglers led 24-14 at the break.
Sophomore kicker Matt Velasco tacked on a 40-yard yield goal for the Bucs in the third quarter before Emerson closed out the scoring with a 9-yard rushing touchdown late in the fourth.
Following Emerson’s scoring run, Blinn attempted an on-side kick as it looked to continue its rally, but Cisco recovered and went into victory formation to salt the game’s final seconds away.
