CARMINE HALL, CARMINE VFD RECEIVE COMMUNITY GRANTS FROM LCRA, BLUEBONNET ELECTRIC

The Carmine Hall and the Carmine Volunteer Fire Department are beneficiaries of recent grant funding awarded by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.

The Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein received a $25,000 community grant to help renovate the Carmine Hall, a popular gathering place for local families and groups.  The grant will go along with more than $225,000 in matching funds from the organization to completely rebuild the lower section of the hall, with updates planned for the kitchen, seating, storage, restrooms, flooring and HVAC system.

Meanwhile, a grant of $13,219 was presented to the Carmine Volunteer Fire Department to replace an old generator.  Along with $3,514 in matching funds from the fire department, the grant will allow for the purchase and installation of a new generator to ensure the fire station can remain operational during power outages, including receiving calls for assistance, refilling air packs, charging devices and maintaining critical communications.

The two grants are among 41 awarded recently through LCRA Community Grants.  The next round of grant applications will be accepted in January at https://lcra.org
