BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER CONTRACT FOR LIFT STATION IMPROVEMENTS
The Burton City Council will potentially award a construction contract when it meets on Tuesday.
Councilmembers will discuss, review and take action on a construction services contract with Rub-A-Dub Plumbing for the Knittel lift station improvement project, through the Texas Department of Agriculture.
Other items will include taking no action or possibly vetoing a request by the Washington County Appraisal District to reallocate surplus funds for specified uses.
According to Chief Appraiser Dyann White, the appraisal district has approximately $310,870 in surplus fund balance and wishes to use it for purposes including office renovation; replenishing the fleet, computer hardware replacement, and legal funds; and updating the appraisal district website with videos for taxpayer education. The city council can choose to reject the budget amendment, and if a majority of local taxing entities do so, the appraisal district can either propose a different amendment or refund the money to each taxing unit by percentage of their total levy.
The final action item will be to approve the city’s 2026 holiday schedule.
The council will meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Burton City Hall.
