SEALY POLICE USE SPECIAL TECHNOLOGY TO HELP ARREST A BURGLARY SUSPECT
A burglary suspect was arrested on Friday by the Sealy Police Department after the use of special technology led to his apprehension.
51-year-old Andrew Krupka was taken to the Austin County Jail and charged with Burglary of a Building.
Police were dispatched to the 3800 Block of the Northeast I-10 Frontage Road for a reported Burglary in Progress.
Upon their arrival, patrol officers discovered that the suspect fled the scene, but left a vehicle behind.
Investigators with the Sealy Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division arrived on the scene to assist. They used Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology to help in their attempt to locate the suspect.
The technology is used by law enforcement to identify vehicles involved in criminal activities by comparing captured license plates against a database of known offenders.
After a search of the area, Krupka was located and arrested.
The Sealy Police Department issued a statement giving their thanks to the Austin County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the matter.
