BLINN LIVESTOCK JUDGING PLACES FOURTH AT CATTLEMAN’S CONGRESS
The Blinn College livestock judging team placed fourth at the recent Cattleman’s Congress Collegiate Judging Contest in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Blinn had 4,750 points in the junior colleges division, placing third in cattle, cattle reasons, and overall reasons; and fourth in sheep/goats and swine.
Jhett West placed sixth overall among individuals with 956 points, including third in swine and sheep/goats, fourth in reasons, and 15th in cattle reasons. Kenna Schram was 11th (second in cattle and 14th in cattle reasons), and Paige Zimprich was 13th (19th in cattle and 20th in overall reasons).
Ryleigh Gilfoil was fifth in reasons, seventh in cattle reasons, and ninth in swine. Jenna Lindig was 17th in sheep/goats, and Carolyne Turner placed 17th in cattle.
Placing fourth at the Cattleman’s Congress contest kept Blinn in third place in LivestockJudging.com’s national community college rankings for the 2025-26 school year with a 1.424 power rating.
Blinn has placed in the top five at every contest it has competed in this season. That includes first at the State Fair of Texas and the Griswold Cattle Classic, second at the American Royal Intercollegiate Livestock Judging Contest and Tulsa State Fair, third at the National Barrow Show, fourth at the Cattleman’s Congress, and fifth at the North American International Livestock Exposition.
Five former members of the Blinn livestock judging team who now compete for Texas A&M University placed in the top 20 individually at the Cattleman’s Congress contest, helping Texas A&M win the senior colleges title. Texas A&M was led by Lane Hogan’s first place. Maddox Hartmann was third, Cash Dean was 12th, Grant Kubala was 13th and Maggie Brumnett was 14th.
The livestock judging team is part of Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program, which has one of the most active extracurricular programs in the state, including livestock judging, the Agriculture Club, wildlife, agriculture mechanics, and horticulture.
