WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO PROPOSE TAX RATE
Washington County Commissioners will look to propose a higher property tax rate for the new tax year when they meet Tuesday.
The tax rate planned for proposal is $0.4367 per $100 valuation, which is above the existing rate of $0.3840 per $100.
With the proposed tax rate, the total tax levy on all properties would increase by $3,792,665 from 2025, with $744,670 being from new property added to the tax roll. The tax on the average homestead would go up $246.19.
According to the tax rate public hearing notice, the no-new-revenue rate is calculated at $0.376594, and the voter-approval rate is $0.459710.
A public hearing on the proposed rate is expected to be held on Tuesday, September 8th.


The only other non-routine item on the agenda is the possible approval to purchase 37 Brother PocketJet 8 mobile printers and related accessories from CDW Government in the amount of $37,523.92. The items would be paid for through the Justice of the Peace Technology Fund.
Following regular session, there will be a public hearing for the Pecan Glen Road District. The meeting is to vote on setting the proposed 2026 tax rate for the Pecan Glen Road District. The rate being looked at is $0.278321 per $100, which is below the current rate of $0.284546.
Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
