BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO THREE CALLS ON FRIDAY

The Brenham Fire Department responded to three calls during the day on Friday.

The first call came in just before 9am on the 300 block of College Avenue. Firefighters were dispatched for a report of a gas smell. When they arrived, the City of Brenham Gas Department was already on the scene. They had discovered that a contractor had struck a gas line in the area. BFD personnel stood by while the gas department clamped the line, and then  returned to service.

BFD Units were then sent to the Brenham State Supported Living Center on the 4000 block of Highway 36 South for a fire alarm sounding just before 10am. Firefighters discovered that a pull station had been activated, but there had been no signs of smoke or fire. Maintenance arrived to help install the pull station back to normal use.

The final call came in just past 4:30pm. Brenham Firefighters were dispatched to FM 389 and Highway 290 for a report of a transportation incident. A BFD unit arrived on the scene to find a two-vehicle crash that had been moved into a parking lot. BFD members checked for injuries or leaking fluids. None were found, so they returned to service.
