ROUND TOP-CARMINE VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS BURTON 3-1

The long-standing volleyball rivalry between the Burton Panthers and the Round Top-Carmine Cubettes continued last (Friday) night with RT-C getting the win at the Burton High School Gym.

Coming into the match, the Cubettes are ranked #3 in Class A, while Lady Panthers are ranked #17 in Class 2A.

Burton won the first set 25-16. However, RT-C won the next three sets 25-18, 26-24, and 25-20 to take the match in four sets.

For Burton, Madalyn Henry had a double-double with 15 kills and 19 digs. Laci Broesche finished with a double-double as well by dishing out 37 assists, and she also had 12 digs on defense.

Kinsey Lunbeck added 11 kills and had four blocks. Natalie Hodde chipped in with seven kills and 20 digs. Adison Harmel led the Lady Panther defense with 23 digs.

For RT-C, Bree Dooley had 16 kills and nine digs. Avery Lamson led the defense with 19 digs.

The Cubettes also got double-doubles from Madison Marwardt, 14 digs and 35 assists, and Morgan Nelius, 13 kills and 14 digs.

Liliana Salinas and Reagan Williams added nine digs each for RT-C.

Next up, the Lady Panthers will be at home to face the Brazos Valley Christian Home Educators Association on Tuesday at 5pm at the Burton High School Gym.

Meanwhile, the Cubettes are going to host Anderson-Shiro at 5pm at the Round Top-Carmine High School Gym.
