HLS&R CALF SCRAMBLE PROGRESS SHOW COMING TO BRENHAM THIS WEEKEND
The 19th annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Calf Scramble Progress Show is coming to the Washington County Fairgrounds in Brenham this weekend.
Participants include Texas 4-H and FFA members who successfully caught a calf during the 2026 RODEOHOUSTON Calf Scramble and received a $2,000 certificate to apply toward the purchase of a registered beef heifer or market steer to show at the 2027 Houston Livestock Show.
The Calf Scramble Progress Show includes a scramble heifer show and a scramble steer show, followed by a showmanship competition.
Participants will be joined by Calf Scramble donors, agricultural science teachers and county extension agents.
Organizers say, these individuals are essential to continuing the Calf Scramble program and giving Texas students the chance to gain hands-on experience in agriculture and responsibility.
Saturday’s schedule includes cattle and exhibitors arriving at the Washington County Fairgrounds at 10am, the Heifer and Steer Check-in from 10am-3pm, the Weigh-in for Steers from 1-3pm, and educational cattle seminars beginning at 4pm.
On Sunday, the Steer and Beef Heifer Shows begin at 9am. That will be followed afterwards by the Showmanship competition.
