ROAD AND BRIDGE DEPARTMENT REPORTS FOUR ROADS CURRENTLY CLOSED

  

According to the Washington County Road and Bridge Department Monday morning, there are currently four roads in the county that are currently closed due to the heavy weekend rains, including the far end of Salem Road, Rehburg Road and the low water crossing, Meyersville Road at New Year’s Creek and Copeland Springs Road at New Year’s Creek.

There is also widespread flooding in the outlying areas in Washington and surrounding counties.

Drivers are encouraged to drive cautiously in these areas.

The Washington County and surrounding areas experienced some much-needed rain over the weekend, with the official total coming to a little over 8 inches.

The Friday total came to a little over a half inch of rain, Saturday, 6.88 inches and Sunday a little over ½ inch, according to the Brenham Water Plant.
