CITY COUNCIL APPROVES BOUNCE HOUSE DISPLAY

  

Brenham City Council held a public hearing today on a zoning amendment to allow an outdoor display from a business.  Alma Carrillo had requested the amendment to allow her to display a bounce house in the green space at the front of her business at 1002 East Blue Bell Road.  Her business, Tuchi’s, does party rentals and wants to display the bounce house as advertising one day a week.  The property owner said that he has given Carrillo permission for the display.  After some discussion, the council approved a 30 day Specific Use Permit to allow display of the bounce house.

The council also approved on the second reading a Specific Use Permit to allow Grady Hardeman Jr. to operate a church and related activities on property located at 515 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.

Council approved a $35,000 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the expansion of the Skateboard Park at Fireman’s Park.  The grant requires a 50/50 match and the other half is being funded by BCDC.

Council approved a $73,000. Professional Services Agreement with Gunda Corporation for design and engineering services related to the Burleson Road culvert replacement.  That culvert was damaged twice during the spring storms.  The city expects FEMA to reimburse 75 percent of the repair costs for the damage.

Council also approved a $25,000. Consulting Services Contract with Public Management Incorporated for them to manage a $275,000 grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture.  The grant is for the rehabilitation of the Church Street water tower and Public Management Inc. assisted the city in obtaining it.  The grant has many requirements, so city staff recommended the professional management of it. The total cost of the rehabilitation of the Church Street water tower is expected to be $450,000.
