When Deputy Leal arrived, he conducted an investigation while waiting for the resident to write his statement. It was at this time that Deputy Leal was informed by Deputy Olvera that he had stopped a vehicle at early that morning. Inside the vehicle he had found stolen guns and ammunition.

Deputy Olvera had arrested the driver for Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and placed him in the Austin County Jail. Later that day the guns and ammunition were identified as the stolen property. Subsequently, the driver was also charged with Burglary of a Habitation with the Intent to Commit other Felonies.

The deputies recovered twelve guns total, four scopes, a flashlight, ammunition and knives. The deputies, along with an Austin County Investigator, returned all stolen property to the resident the same day.

Sheriff Jack Brandes says that this is an example of great teamwork between Austin County deputies. He went on to say that he is proud of the work the deputies take on together to keep the county safe and protect the property of Austin County residents.
