WALLER COUNTY RESIDENTS UPSET OVER ABUSED HORSES
Residents in Waller County are upset after the district attorney’s office returned seven abused horses to their owner.
In July of 2015 the owner of the horses, Kathie Digilio, turned herself in to face animal abuse charges.
For the past year, True Blue Animal Rescue has been working to rehabilitate the 36 horses taken from Digilio’s property. Now, the organization is saying the district attorney’s decision to return seven of the horses is unfair.
Digilio has been appealing the animal abuse charges over the past year. The district attorney’s office and Digilio made a deal where she must pay True Blue $30 thousand for the care they provided. The district attorney's office released a statement saying that the they thought it necessary to bring closure to this aspect of the case. Furthermore, the office wanted to bring stability to the horses’ lives and reduce possible further financial stress to the taxpayers of Waller with costly legal struggles.
According to the district attorney’s office, Digilio still faces the animal abuse charges as the case is still pending.
