BJHS TEACHER RECEIVES TEXAS CONSERVATION AWARD

Brenham Junior High School teacher, Allison Bentke, has been selected by the Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District as the 2017 Washington County Conservation Teacher.

Bentke will be entered in the area-level competition and a state winner will be selected from the winners of the five area competitions. Winners are recognized at the annual state meeting of soil and water conservation district directors. Retired Brenham ISD teacher Nancy Oertli was the 2013 State Winner.bisdteacher

The purpose of the awards program is to acknowledge, recognize and honor those who dedicate themselves and their talents to conservation. The conservation awards program provides competition and incentives to expand and improve conservation efforts, resource development, and increase the wise utilization of renewable natural resources.

Bentke was recognized in an awards ceremony at Brenham Junior High School on Monday, October 10th. Several special guests were in attendance including Superintendent Dr. Jackson, Principal Bryan Bryant, 2013 State Winner Nancy Oertli, Science Content Specialist Sarah Cook and the Brenham Junior High School Science Department.
