LOCAL CHAMBER PREPARES FOR 2017 LEGISLATIVE SESSION

Officials with the Washington County Chamber of Commerce says they are ready for the upcoming 2017 Texas legislative session.

Every two years, the Chamber publishes a set of Policy Statements in advance of the session in Austin.   A committee gathers of current and past directors to compile the policies deemed important to local business and to the economic health of Washington County.

The Chamber then promotes those Policy Statements to elected officials at the local and state levels.

The Washington County Chamber encourages its members to take an active role in government affairs.  While the Chamber is the “voice of business” for 800-plus members in the region, individuals are asked to stay active by providing input/updates from their particular businesses.

Once the 85th Legislature convenes in Austin next month, the chamber will include Legislative Alerts in their weekly emails as issues arise of key concern and specific bills are filed.

Washington County’s “Day at the Capitol” will be on Tuesday, February 21.  The chamber will deliver the community’s Top Legislative Priorities that day.

Members are asked to send any legislative concerns or industry input to Chamber President Page Michel at page@brenhamtexas.com.
