BRENHAM HERITAGE MUSEUM EXPECTED TO REOPEN LATE JANUARY
The Brenham Heritage Museum is expected to reopen in late January, according to Museum Executive Director Doug Price.
Price says the renovation, which started in early August, was originally on course to be finished by the end of December. However, the project ran into some problems including asbestos and out of code electrical systems.
Price says the renovation was driven by damage sustained in the spring flooding:
Price says that one of the positive aspects from the renovation is that the finished basement of the museum will be restored to its original state:
While the October exhibition on the fashion and clothing of Brenham in 1843 was delayed due to the renovations, the large WWI exhibition will open as scheduled on April 6, 2017. The exhibit is an international collaborative project, commemorating the centennial of Central Texas.
The museum is currently closed to visitation, however it is still staffed and available by phone at 979-830-8445.
