‘ADOPT A SENIOR’ FACEBOOK GROUP STARTED FOR 2021 BRENHAM HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

Brenham and Washington County residents are again taking to social media to show local students appreciation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Facebook group page called “Brenham adopt a senior 2021” allows Brenham High School parents to feature their seniors for "adoption" by listing pictures and short biographies.  Others can then “adopt” a senior, and can even send them items like gift cards, snacks, or items for college.

2020 seniors were recognized in similar fashion in a Facebook group organized by Madelyn Villatoro, whose son was one of the many seniors affected by the pandemic last spring.  Villatoro, who also created this year’s group, said students are still experiencing that impact, and that it is important to continue to show them support.

Seniors can be “adopted” up to three times by members of the group, which had 284 members as of this (Thursday) morning.

The group is listed as private, but people can request to join.  The link to the group is available here.
