30-year old Isidro “Bo” Compean turned himself in to Brenham Police, Thursday afternoon.  He is charged with Theft between $20,000-and-$100,000 – a third degree felony.

The theft was reported by the league last Friday (July 31),

According to Brenham Police, 180 sets of helmets and shoulder pads were reported missing, along with Compean, the man charged with getting the equipment reconditioned.

According to League President Robbie Wooten, officials believed the equipment had been sent off to Riddell to be cleaned and re-painted—and that’s where they thought the equipment was all summer.

However, officials from the athletic equipment supply company told Wooten, when he called them last week, they never received the helmets and pads.

Wooten says he tried to contact Compean, who’d been in charge of the equipment but was told no one had seen him since last week.

Wooten says the donations to replace the stolen equipment have exceeded the costs and that any surplus will be donated to another children’s-related charity.

  1. If he was a coach for so long, you never know what this man had been going through to have done this. Yes it was wrong but we should atleast hear him out!

    1. What he was going thru? Really does not matter. You do the right thing, ALWAYS!! Stealing is wrong no matter what you need the money for. He volunteered to be a leader for these youth and he failed them. Part of his punishment should be an apology to each and every one of these kids!

  2. So very sad that parents trusted him to set a good example for their children and he let them down when he let GREED control his actions!!!

  3. if you have the person in custody where are the items he stole or the money he sold them for??

  4. Now, tell the police where the equipment went. Get these kids their equipment back and do the right thing.
