BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO TALK FM 389 DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS

ย ย

The Brenham City Council will meet tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss a drainage improvement project on and around FM 389.

The council will act on a resolution approving an advance funding agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

Public Works Director Dane Rau said this resolution is required by TxDOT, due to the city and its contractor performing work in and around TxDOT right-of-way. He said an agreement is needed, even though there is no financial partnership with TxDOT, and the project is being completely funded by the city.

The project consists of drainage improvements and storm sewer enhancements beginning on Tracye Lee Drive leading to Blake Drive, and eventually crossing FM 389. The city has budgeted $334,000 for the project.

The city is opening bids related to the work today (Wednesday), and will come to council August 1st with a recommendation.

Also on the agenda, the council will consider a change order and final payment for storm damage repairs at Schulte Boulevard. The council in March awarded a contract to Solid Bridge Construction, LLC, for drainage enhancements caused by the May 2016 storm.

With final payment, the total project cost comes out to $80,000. The scope of work was approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the city expects FEMA will reimburse the city up to 75 percent.

The council will also act on an audit engagement letter from Seidel Schroeder to perform an audit for the Fiscal Year ending September 30th.

The council will meet tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m., at City Hall.
