BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT

Around 10:00 am on Sunday, the Brenham Fire Department  responded to the 300 block of Lott Ln. for a smoke investigation.  Upon arriving on location, BFD found the owner burning a small amount of wood/limbs. The landowner was advised it was illegal to burn within the City of Brenham Limits and he complied and extinguished the fire with a garden hose.

Also on Sunday around 6:15pm BFD units were called for a Haz-Mat incident in the area of Hwy 290 and 36 South. Upon arriving on location, the BFD found 75-100 gallons of possible oil field sludge in the turning lane of the 290 feeder.

The Haz-Mat product was very thick so run-off was not a concern, no one witnessed the spill and there was no oil field trucks found in the area.

The BFD contacted TCEQ and secured the area until TXDOT arrived. Arens Services was called in by TXDOT for cleanup of the roadway.

BFD was on location for about 2 hours.
