BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO DECLARE UNOPPOSED ELECTION

The Burton City Council will look to declare an uncontested race for the May municipal elections at its meeting tomorrow (Tuesday).

The council will certify and declare that the incumbents for the May 1st election – Mayor David Zajicek and councilmembers Nathan Kalkhake, Paul McLaughlin and Macey Tidwell – are unopposed.  The council will then move to cancel the election.

Councilmembers will also consider an ordinance establishing the budget for the 2021-22 Fiscal Year.   They will also take up action on a potential amendment to the city’s current manufactured home ordinance, after tabling the item at their previous meeting.

The council will also consider:

  • Approval of the MS150 bike event coming through town on May 1st while voting is in progress.
  • Giving banking authority to City Secretary Adrian Cepeda to make deposits, accept bank bags and statements, cash petty cash checks and transfer funds between City of Burton accounts.
  • Action for ZochNet to sell and provide Burton City Hall’s phone and fax line services for both local and long distance calling.
  • Contracting the municipal judge as specified for the city’s municipal needs.

The council will meet tomorrow afternoon at 5:30 p.m. at Burton City Hall.
