GIDDINGS ROBBERY SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN BRENHAM

  

Two suspects in the robbery of a phone store in Giddings were arrested Saturday by Brenham police.

According to the Giddings Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly before 6 p.m. to an aggravated robbery at the Cricket Wireless store in the 2400 block of East Austin Street.  Police say an undisclosed amount of money and other property was taken.

After obtaining the description of the suspects and their vehicle and determining which way they were traveling, officers gave the information to neighboring agencies.

According to Brenham Police Officer Marley Mayo, the suspects’ vehicle, a 2006 Jeep with an Illinois license plate, was stopped at the Westwood Chevron gas station on Highway 290.  The stolen money, property and other evidence was located inside the vehicle.

Giddings officers went to Brenham and arrested 24-year-old Ayona Tunstill and 26-year-old Aaron Akins, both of Indiana, for Aggravated Robbery.  They remain in custody at the Lee County Jail, with bond set at $150,000 apiece.

No physical injuries were reported.

Giddings police say their investigation is ongoing, as more information is being learned about the suspects’ potential involvement with other armed robberies.

  1. At a time when few of us want anything to do with news, what a great story, KWHI. And while other communities are trying to defund the police, in this part of Texas we congratulate them for intra-agency cooperation, and sincerely thank them!
