An 88-year old man was killed when a  huge fire completely consumed a house in the 900 block of West Mansfield near Jackson Street Park early Sunday morning. Jesse Randle, the only one living at the home was killed, and his body discovered some two hours after the fire began

Brenham firefighters, Washington County EMS Crews, Brenham police all responded to the scene at about 8:30 in the morning when neighbors heard an explosion at the house.  Raging flames were seen leaping out of the structure, and heavy smoke was billowing out on the street. Most of the flames were coming fr4om upstairs, and from an attic window, but flames were also coming out from a  lower window.  One witness said the house fire looked ‘like a huge bonfire.’   The state fire marshal's office has been called to search for any possible victims and to conduct and investigation.
