INMATE DIES WEDNESDAY AT THE WASHINGTON COUNTY JAIL

An inmate at the Washington County Jail was found unconscious in his cell Wednesday afternoon.  Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak reports that Wednesday afternoon at approximately 2:30, Cameron James Pritchett, age 31 of Burton, was found to be unconscious in his cell.  Sheriff Hanak says that the detention officers immediately began administering CPR and that Washington County EMS was called.  Pritchett was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Brenham where he was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace William Kendall.  Pritchett’s body was then taken to the Travis County Medical Examiner where an autopsy was to be performed today.

Pritchett had been in the Washington County Jail since Sunday, for a theft warrant issued out of Travis County.  Texas Rangers with the assistance of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating the incident. No further details are available.

  1. I’ve known Cameron since he was born – grew up with his mom and dad. I’ve not seen Cameron for many years, not since his father passed away. This news is so very sad. We just found out today. Toni, we all send our thoughts and prayers to you and Ryan and Nick and your entire family. Unfortunately, I know the loss of a child and my heart just breaks for you. But please know that we all love y’all very much and are here for anything we can do for you. God bless you sweet friend and God bless Cameron. Love, Sue
