JOANNE DOHERTY TO SEEK PRECINCT 3 COMISSIONER SEAT

  

Joanne Doherty has announced her candidacy for Precinct 3- Washington County Commissioner. Doherty, a Texas democrat, will run against the incumbent Republican, Kirk Hanath.

Doherty and her husband have lived in Washington County for 16 years. She was born in Houston, and practiced law there in both private practice and as an Assistant United States Attorney.

Doherty says she is running because she wants to serve the community she loves. She goes on to say that the new economy is challenging to local businesses and institutions and that economic changes sweeping over the community means doing things “the way we always have done” will no longer work. Doherty emphasizes the need to be looking for opportunities that will make Washington County a better place for better jobs and better public services.

The election is set for November 8th, but early voting begins October 24th.
