NAVASOTA WOMAN KILLED IN ROLLOVER ON HIGHWAY 6; TWO FIRST RESPONDERS INJURED WHILE INVESTIGATING

A Navasota woman was killed early Sunday morning in a rollover accident on Highway 6 in Grimes County, and two first responders were injured while working the scene of the crash.

According to DPS Sergeant Jimmy Morgan, 31-year-old Porscha Crawford was driving southbound on Highway 6, five miles south of Navasota, when just after 12:30 a.m., her vehicle left the roadway and overturned.  According to Morgan, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from her vehicle.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.

While first responders were investigating the accident, a vehicle hit the back of a Grimes County Sheriff’s Office vehicle, injuring a deputy and a Navasota firefighter.  Morgan said the two were released from Baylor Scott and White Hospital in College Station, after they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the second crash was identified by DPS as 20-year-old Avery Jimenez of Katy.  Jimenez was taken to the Grimes County Jail, charged with two counts of Intoxication Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury, and one count of Possession of Marijuana.
