PANTHERS DROP HEARTBREAKER, 18-12
The Burton Panthers dropped a tough home-opener to Brazos, Friday night, 18-12 at Panther Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, the Panthers got on the board in the third quarter on a 74-yard touchdown run by Carter Callahan. The extra point was no good and the Panthers trailed 12-6 going into the fourth quarter.
The Panthers scored again in the fourth, when Colby Beck hit Cooper Lucherk with a 59-yard scoring pass. The extra point was blocked.
The Panthers lost four fumbles on the night and had a touchdown called back on a holding call.
Burton slips to 0-2 on the season, while Brazos improves to 1-0.
The Panthers open district play next Friday night when they travel to Iola. Kickoff is set for 7:30 with the pre-game at 7:00 on KWHI, FM 101.7 and www.kwhi.com.
